Taiwan international cultural, creative expo opens

The 2011 Taiwan International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo (TICCIE) opened in Taipei Thursday, drawing 457 companies and individual designers showcasing their cultural and creative concepts and products.
Vice President Vincent Siew and Premier Wu Den-yih spoke at the opening to offer their blessings and congratulations to the four-day show taking place at the Taipei World Trade Center's Nangang Exhibition Hall.
Siew said that developing the cultural and creative industry is now a global trend and that it takes concerted efforts by all relevant sectors to put Taiwan's unique culture and creativity on the world stage.
Wu for his part said Taiwan's creative energy and stamina have been showcased in many prestigious design exhibitions worldwide over the years, and that the TICCIE is offering another window for Taiwanese designers to display their talent.
The Sept. 8-11 TICCIE, with a central theme of "Connection," features separate exhibitions in 10 major areas, including the local beauty of Taiwan; museum culture; rising talent and individual designers; boutiques and brands; cross-Taiwan Strait culture and creativity; world style; and new and green living.
Local exhibitors are manning a total of 868 booths at the expo.
