Taipei, Oct. 13 (CNA)
A new building funded by Delta Electronics Inc., the world's largest provider of switching power supplies, was unveiled Thursday at National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu City, northern Taiwan.
The nine-floor building will house a research center that will work on the development of distributed cloud middleware -- a core technology for cloud computing.
The Delta Building, named after Delta Electronics Inc., has also been approved by the Ministry of the Interior as a "green building" for reaching several ministry-imposed standards -- efficient use of energy and water; high green coverage; ability to reduce waste and carbon dioxide; and acceptable sewage treatment systems.
The company invested a total of NT$200 million (US$6.6 million) on the facility, the future home of the school's departments of electrical engineering and computer science, materials Science and engineering, and its institute of nano engineering and microsystems.
NTHU, along with National Chiao Tung University, are considered to be nurturing grounds for budding local tech talent.
Companies located in the Hsinchu Science Park often cooperate closely with the two schools and have invested heavily in them. (By Chang Chien-
